This raunchy drama based on a book should be your next binge watch, trust us

This time of year is peak TV season. No one wants to go outside, and instead, we snuggle the greyness of January away. Next on our watchlist? The Hunting Wives.

Starring Brittany Snow and Malin Akerman – who will always be the spoiled little sister in 27 Dresses to us – the series combines housewife drama with a sprinkling of murder mystery and sapphic sexual exploration. What more could you want?!

The series is adapted from the novel by May Cobb, which gave us serious Big Little Lies vibes.

And the good news? It’s just become available to stream for UK audiences, and the series has also been renewed by Netflix for a second season, which we hope will drop sometime next year.

What is The Hunting Wives about?

According to a synopsis, the series follows Sophie O’Neil (Brittany Snow), who “moves to deep east Texas and succumbs to socialite Margo (Malin Akerman)’s charms. Her life is soon consumed by obsession, seduction, and murder.” Who gets murdered, though? You’ll have to watch wait to find out.

The tagline for The Hunting Wives is a legendary “sex, secrets and gun-slinging huns!” It is also dubbed an “addictive US drama about a city housewife who falls in with an east Texan socialite’s killer clique”.

The series also leans into some serious sapphic sexual tension, with The Hunting Wives even making Glamour‘s round-up of top sex scenes of 2025. (Not to spoil anything, but the connection between Sophie and Margot is hot hot hot. See below.)
