The beauty of Korean skin-care superstar Beauty of Joseon lies in its gratifying textures, no-nonsense formulas, and affordable prices. Even more affordable today, as almost the entire range is reduced in price for Cyber Monday.
Yep, one of the best Cyber Monday beauty deals (in fact, Cyber Monday deals in general) comes courtesy of this cult brand. Why? Well we all know the face sunscreen that has gone TikTok-viral 100 times over (and has made this list with a caveat — more on that later), but I’m going to enlighten you on the other Beauty of Joseon offerings that deserve their fair share of hype. My credentials? I’m a beauty editor who’s tried the brand’s entire lineup, so this tight curation is the crème de la crème for glowy, healthy skin.
My Top Beauty of Joseon Products, reduced for Cyber Monday:
For a little bit of context, I’m in my 30s, live in New York City (so I’m exposed to a lot of pollution, yay), and have combination skin (with the occasional breakout). My main skin concerns are visible, congested pores in and around my nose, uneven skin tone, and prevention of signs of ageing.
Needless to say, skin care is not one-size-fits-all, but I’m confident most people can use these Beauty of Joseon products, which are all fragrance-free, without encountering any negative side effects or irritation. Without further ado, I present the six best BoJ formulas that will remain staples in my skin-care routine.
The Gel Moisturiser That’s Ruined All Others: Red Bean Water Gel
Why I love it: I rotate moisturisers frequently as part of the whole beauty-editor job — they all more or less do the same job, okay? — but I’ve used Red Bean Water Gel to the last drop and very much plan on stocking up on more. Gel moisturisers are perfect for my combination skin because they hydrate without feeling heavy or emphasising my oily, pore-ridden T-zone. Red Bean Water Gel, in particular, is chock-full of red bean extract to deliver moisture while also absorbing sebum (thanks to saponins) — a magical combo, if you ask me. It’s cooling, refreshing, and layers wonderfully underneath my sunscreen and makeup sans pilling. I always want to look like a little dewy dumpling/cherub, and this does the trick!
If you have dry skin, I recommend Beauty of Joseon’s Dynasty Cream in tube form (versus the jar) for less messy application. I’ll sometimes use Dynasty Cream — which has doses of hyaluronic acid, hydrolysed hyaluronic acid, and sodium hyaluronate — in the colder months when my skin is a tad drier, but honestly, Red Bean Water Gel is an all-year staple.
Morning and night, I squeeze out a nickle-size amount after essences and/or serums, and before sunscreen in the morning.
- Key ingredients: Haenam red bean extract (44%), glycerin, panthenol, allantoin.
- Fragrance-free: Yes.
People with combination, oily, or normal skin.
The Eye Cream to Help Stave Off Fine Lines Revive Eye Serum: Ginseng + Retinal
Why I love it: To use eye cream or not? I think eye creams are a “nice-to-have” skin-care step — and if I reach for an eye cream at all, it’ll be a retinol eye cream to reap retinol’s fine-line-minimising and tightening benefits. Again, I’m 31 and haven’t experienced fine lines around the eyes or generally sagging under-eyes, but skin care is — with a lot of emphasis — all about consistent use and prevention.
