Does Summer Fridays Blush Butter Balm deliver on the butter skin trend?

When it comes to summer complexion, butter skin is in. If you’re struggling to achieve it without looking greasy or sticky, the newly launched Summer Fridays Blush Butter Balm might be for you.

A win for fans of Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm, the accompanying Blush Butter Balm is a makeup-meets-skincare hybrid product that promises to deliver a cute flush from within while nourishing the skin. Formulated with a trio of butters – shea, mango seed and illipe, the blush is boosted by hyaluronic acid for plumping and ceramides to protect your skin barrier.

Not to mention that the balm-like consistency is perfect for amateur blush wearers as it applies more sheer, but is also easily buildable for a bolder pop of colour. If you suffer from blush blindness (not always a bad thing) or can’t decide between your cream or your powder, this is an easy alternative. Available in six shades – from coral-toned Pink Sunset to warm Toasted Terracotta – the dewy coverage is perfect for experimenting with colours outside of your usual favourites.

The GLAMOUR team tried Summer Fridays Blush Butter Balm to see if it delivered on the effortless summer flush. Here’s what they had to say…

Fiona, Associate Beauty Director

Everyone’s talking about the butter skin trend right now, and this blush definitely leans into that smooth, soft-as-butter texture and sheen on the skin. To be honest, it was unexpected, as looking at the palette, I was expecting an almost whipped mousse consistency. The blush took a little getting used to – when applied with a brush, the pigment payoff was way too strong and really difficult to blend. But softly patted onto cheekbones, it gave skin an almost glass-like effect, and it was easy to build up the colour. The finish was worth it: dewy, glossy and fresh, exactly how summer skin should look.
