Victoria Beckham has made ‘soap nails’ her new signature – and it’s dreamy for mani minimalists

If you’re already over glitz nails in favour of something more simple and fresh for Jan, you’re not alone. Victoria Beckham is the latest celebrity to jump on the ‘soap nail’ trend – which takes clean nail designs to another level, recreating that squeaky-clean fresh mani feeling (when your nails have been scrubbed, buffed, trimmed and filed), to create a manicure that looks like it’s just emerged from soapy suds after a bubble bath.

As much as we love a playful nail design like 3D details, mix n match designs or colourful chromes, minimalist manicures are now inspiring us again. And, heading up the trends are the immaculately-neat soap nails, which are quickly gaining more popularity after picking up a loyal fan base last year.

In a photo shared to her Instagram on 12 January, Victoria Beckham posted a selfie which saw her dressed in a long, ultra-fitted midnight blue gown from her collection, with a gathered circle detail at her waist and voluminous pads at her shoulders.

She paired it with a soft, sheer smoky eye, her hair swept back neatly into a ballerina bun and her subtle soap nails – which despite being a timeless shade of pinky-nude, shone like they’d just been scrubbed clean for extra elegance.

Thanks to the continued popularity of the minimalist ‘clean girl’ or ‘vanilla girl’ aesthetics, naturalness has long been at the top of the popularity scale – and well-groomed nails are inextricably linked to this. The soap nail manicure is the epitome of this trend and it’s set to continue winning fans in 2025.

Tempted by soap nails? Here’s how to recreate them at home…

  1. Before you start painting, you should clean the nail bed and hands properly and carefully trim and file the nails.
  2. Decide on a nail shape, whether square, round or oval.
  3. Apply a base coat to the nails and choose a semi-transparent nail polish in pink, nude or white.
  4. Finish the manicure with a glossy top coat.
  5. Use a nail oil or serum for longer durability.
