Monsters season 2 arrives on Netflix on September 19, with the second series titled Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. A dramatisation of a true story, this season examines the high-profile case of brothers Lyle and Erik Menendez, who fatally shot their parents in 1989 at their Beverly Hills home.
Through their trials, the brothers claimed years of abuse at the hands of their parents as the motivation for killing them, though prosecutors argued that the act was driven by a desire to secure the family fortune for themselves.
Ultimately, the pair were convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
The new series comes almost two years following the first season of Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story hit screens.

When is Monsters season 2 released on Netflix?
As is the case with most Netflix releases, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story is set to arrive on the streamer at midnight Pacific Time on September 19, so for those of us in the UK this will be 8am BST.
Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story cast
The new series features several familiar faces, including Javier Bardem as Erik and Lyle’s music executive father and Chloë Sevigny as their mother. Nathan Lane plays Dominick Dunne, an investigative journalist covering the trial for Vanity Fair.
Nicholas Chavez and Cooper Koch, respectively, play Lyle and Erik. Chavez is best known for his roles in General Hospital and Grotesquerie, while Koch has roles in the thriller films Swallowed and They/Them.
