Last night, I was lucky enough to attend the Eras Tour — it was Taylor Swift’s first concert in her final group of London shows that will close out the European leg of her Eras Tour. I donned my sequins and cowboy boots, I screamed, I cried, I drank too much wine. The whole thing was a total dream.
As someone who spends a lot of her time covering entertainment news, there weren’t too many surprises in the show. I knew all of the little chants. I was prepared for the beautiful “willow” glowing lanterns in the audience. I knew exactly when to dash out to visit the loo. But one thing I was no ready for was for the Taylor Swift surprise guest appearance of Ed Sheeran during the surprise acoustic section of the show.
Sheeran, a long-time friend and collaborator of Swift, joined her on stage to sing a mash-up of their songs “Everything Has Changed” and “End Game” and his song “Thinking Out Loud.” During his appearance, Swift gushed that Sheeran was like her “second brother.” “He works so hard and he’s on tour right now and he’s probably so tired, but he wanted to come and play for you and do this for all of us. So, give it up again for Ed Sheeran,” she said as the crowd shrieked around me.
