What is Medik8?
In case you’re unfamiliar, Medik8 is a skincare brand famously known for its cutting-edge product technologies. Ever since its founder Elliot Isaacs invented the CSA Philosophy in 2009 – a method that suggests that all your skin needs is vitamin C plus face sunscreen during the day and vitamin A (AKA retinol) at night – Medik8 has become world-renowned.

When it comes to their product line-up, there’s no shortage of impressive formulations, namely their Crystal Retinal range, which lets you pick the exact retinoid concentration that works best on your skin. As someone who has sensitive skin, I’m not usually the biggest fan of retinol serums as some highly-concentrated formulas tend to irritate my skin, resulting in excessive redness and tenderness.
Luckily, ever since I hopped on the Medik8 hype, I’ve never looked back. Starting from Crystal Retinal 1 (which is the most gentle option), I was able to work my way up to Crystal Retinal 10, and my skin felt as comfortable as ever. The maximum level gets all the way up to Retinal 20, but for the time being, I’ll stick to level 10.
Elsewhere, the Advanced Day Ultimate Protect, a daily moisturiser with SPF50, is a mainstay in my makeup bag. It feels incredibly lightweight on the skin and absorbs within seconds. Not to mention that UV protection is always a plus in my book. I’m also a huuuge fan of the brand’s C-Tetra Luxe vitamin C serum (it’s the one product that I absolutely cannot replace) and, of course, the Advanced Night Restore moisturiser, which is a night cream that’s infused with ceramides, fatty acids and peptides.
Speaking of staples, fans of brightening formulas ought to check out the cult-favourite Daily Radiance C-Tetra Cream, which not only features a stable, effective and low-irritation form of vitamin C but also hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, and SPF30 protection to shield your skin from the harmful UV rays. Genuinely one of the best moisturisers around.
The Hydr8 B5 Intense, on the other hand, is a top-notch hyaluronic acid serum, which pairs well with actives and ensures lasting hydration. This multi-molecular formula is guaranteed to revive even the driest of skin types.
Lastly, no skincare routine is complete without a quality toner. The brand’s Press & Clear formula made its mark for being one of the least irritation-prone BHA toners to date, which is good news for sensitive skin types.
