Camila Cabello is setting the record straight about the price of her now-infamous Met Gala bag, which was made of actual ice. At the time, rumours spread that the custom Jane Wade bag, which she wore with a metallic Swarovski crystal Ludovic de Saint Sernin gown, cost over $25,000. However, Cabello is here to put those rumours to rest because her ice bag — which literally melted as she walked the red carpet, a symbol of the “Garden of Time” theme — did not cost that much.
While stopping by The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Camila Cabello took a moment to clear the air about the price of the bag. Turns out you could probably DIY a similar look if you’re crafty and have a large freezer space handy. “Guys, it’s water, frozen! You can make it at home!” she said. “It’s however much water cost plus a rose that we got from Etsy.” (At the Gala, Cabello told Extra: “I feel like it is impermanence and things decaying over time and the beauty in that.”)

Cabello told Fallon that the ice block was originally supposed to be a purse with straps, but the strap broke en route, so she had to carry it as a clutch — and it was not her best-case scenario (Weren’t her hands cold?)
“I get there, I get this purse that we took out of a freezer, which was ice. It’s just a block of ice,” the singer explained. “I didn’t think about the fact that ice very quickly melts. I get there, and it’s just a nightmare situation. This is the thing you least want to happen … a bunch of famous people looking at you having a breakdown during the line before you take your picture at the Met Gala!”
