London Fashion Week is always a wild ride of arty ideas and bold concepts. But at its heart are trends to get excited about wearing your way. Trailing tassels and silky fringing were one of the details we kept on spotting on the catwalk. The extra embellishment just kept on cropping up time and again – at a huge array of different designers’ shows and done in so many different ways…

While all the looks we’ve just seen are for Spring 2024 (IE clothes you can’t buy til next year) it’s GLAMOUR’s duty to share fashion ideas of what you can wear right now. Trailing tassels might be major come next season but you might already have some pieces in your wardrobe with fringing… or if you’re into the trend, keep an eye out for tassels in Autumn collections… Obviously they’ll add something extra to any party season *lewks* but fringing and trailing tassels are perma-trends which you’ll love forever.

The best way to navigate any trend? Only get involved if it’s a style that truly resonates with you and your existing wardrobe. The good thing about trailing tassels is that they are instantly joyful. And you can add as little or as much of the trend as you like, into your outfits.

At London-based Sinead Gorey, the mini tassels on a body-con dress were edged with beads for a rave-ready aesthetic while Huishan Zhang made a more serious proposition, with floor-skimming silky fringe dripping from the cuffs of an elegant coat dress.

Art-world favourite Roksanda incorporated fringed details into her fabrics, which looked modern on a highlighter yellow two-piece. That fluorescent hue continued across to Asai who created a woven mesh of tie-dyed fabric with tassels that trailed across the catwalk. Ashish went high-octane with his version of tassels, slinky, lametta-light strands in a pastel rainbow which caught the flashbulbs and the imagination of theasudience.

Proving there is a version of fringe for everyone, Elenareva took her tassels to the floor and heritage brand Burberry created a halter-neck dress in raspberry silken fringing which demands to be spun around the dancefloor. In contrast Bora Aksu used a tiny strip of fringe around the hem of a strict skirt suit, for those days when you’re not feeling full on diva.

Taking the staple biker jacket and adding fringe is a smart way to update a classic, at Erdem (the embellished leather and inky blue shade are desirable details too) and we loved the trailing tassels on the boots at Mark Fast. At Feben, the crafted bodice on dresses fell into long swishy fringe.

Chet Lo

Future Publishing

More micro fringe was spotted at KNWLS, on a witty check pattern and even if you don’t want to go full on for fringe, the long tasseled necklaces at Chet Lo are a baby step into the trend. If you’re not convinced, one swish of these trailing tassels and you’ll be a fringe fan for life.
