This year’s Met Gala—aka the Costume Institute Benefit, aka the Super Bowl for celebrity red-carpet fashion—is a tribute to the late Karl Lagerfeld. Guests were officially instructed to dress “in honor of Karl,” which for some might mean donning one of Lagerfeld’s iconic designs for the likes of Fendi, Chanel, and Chloé—and for others still, might mean something closer to cosplay, borrowing Karl’s trademark high collars, fingerless gloves, and beloved Chrome Hearts jewelry. (His icy white ponytail is sure to inspire plenty of the night’s best hair and grooming moments, too.) In any event, the steps outside the Metropolitan Museum of Art are sure to be swarming with galactic-level fits from the biggest names in Hollywood, pro sports, fashion, and beyond. We’ll be here all night with updates on the sharpest and wildest menswear looks as they hit the carpet.
