28 pumpkin nails because it’s October and we might as well

If there were ever a time to adopt pumpkin nails, now would be it. October is elite in that it’s equal parts cosy and spooky, and if you want to maximise on autumny Halloween vibes, you’ve got to go big and start early.

As for which direction to head in, pumpkin is the poster child of October. From pumpkin spiced lattes to pumpkin pie and even pumpkin spiced hair and makeup, we’ve seen the squash everywhere, so it follows that the trend would infiltrate our manis, too.

It taps into the snug colour palette of autumn with toasted orange, rust and amber tones, plus it nods to the creepiest time of year, when jack-o-lanterns line doorsteps, which sounds like the perfect fall mash-up.

And while pumpkins don’t exactly have a reputation for being chic and sophisticated, we’re willing to trade out trad Frenchies and flex our fingertips into something a little fun, cute and themed for October, because why not.

As for how to wear them, we’ve seen dinky gourds dotted across fingernails, we’ve seen them standalone as a single accent on a thumb or ring finger. We’ve seen them replace Frenchies at the tops of tips, we’ve seen pumpkin-inspired manis in squash shades. We’ve seen them updated with chrome, cut-outs and shimmer, and we’ve seen them worn super short or extra long.
