If you’re saying to yourself, “Didn’t we just have the Emmys?” you’re not alone, nor are you crazy. There was, in fact, an Emmy ceremony back in January, having been postponed as a result of last year’s SAG/AFTRA and WGA strikes. And now, we’re getting back to our regularly scheduled programming—pun entirely intended—with the Emmys returning to its usual spot in September. And who are we to complain about another opportunity to admire the glam of the TV stars strutting down the red carpet?
Coming right on the heels of MTV’s big award show, the (second) 2024 Emmys bring a very different vibe than the VMAs—one that’s typically less over-the-top and edgy and more classic and elegant. But that doesn’t mean the stars won’t make creative choices with their hair, makeup, and nails. And that’s why we’re here: to keep track of all the best beauty looks among the attendees, the looks most likely to set new trends for the rest of the year and beyond, the looks we’ll be talking about until the next Emmys (which will probably be an entire year away this time).

We knew Selena Gomez was going to look incredible when she hit the red carpet—she’s nominated for Only Murders in the Building, after all, so this is her moment. And, yep, she killed it. We’re obsessed with her super-long, middle-parted hair, styled by Marissa Marino to be as smooth as can be, but nowhere near flat. And whoever said flipped-up ends are reserved for bobs and lobs simply didn’t have the vision to see how adorable it looks on long hair like Gomez’s.
Marino applied the original Fekkai Brilliant Glossing Styling Créme from roots to ends on towel-dried hair and brushed through with a paddle brush. “I blow-dried the hair straight and then applied the Fekkai Brilliant Gloss Glass Hair Anti-Frizz Oil Serum from roots to ends and brushed through,” says Marino. Then she curled just the ends with the Kristin Ess Hair 1 1/4” Curling Iron.
The superstar kept her makeup soft, with glossy, beige-pink lips, perfectly fluffed brows, and the wispiest winged liner we ever did see.
