While a searching for the most comfortable heels ten years ago would definitely have turned up some rather uninspiring shoes, we’re pleased to report that it’s a totally different story in 2024. Stepping into a pair of heeled shoes shouldn’t have to come with the possibility of zero arch support — or worse, being left with painful blisters and bunions. Instead, we’re on the hunt for heels so comfy that they’ll rival our trusty walking sandals.
But what exactly should you be looking out for on your quest for a comfy pair of heels? According to board-certified podiatrist, Farah Lakhram, DPM, a comfortable footbed is a crucial feature, since the balls of your feet make contact with that area the most. “Every type of insole feels and works differently,” Lakhram explains. “Foam or padded footbeds are the most cushioned insoles and offer the most support overall. Cork offers a little lighter support, and gel reduces pressure and has the best shock absorption.”
Whether you’re after comfy courts to wear to work, chic slingbacks that would make comfortable wedding shoes, or some low heeled sandals that’ll support you through any evening saunters down cobbled European streets this summer, we’ve got you covered with this carefully curated edit.
